Nania Construction is a full-service General Contractor located in the St. Louis, Missouri metro area completing a wide variety of Commercial, Residential, and Public Works Construction projects and we are looking to expand our field teams with 1-2 excellent Laborers/Apprentices.

Nania Construction, LLC is a 12 year old, steadily growing General Contracting Construction company that partners with our clients to develop and renovate their residential and commercial properties to achieve their investment goals, serve their clients’ and customers’ and business needs, or maximize rental property incomes or returns,  or to simply increase personal or public enjoyment of their buildings and properties.

-Commercial-Office, Office-warehouse, Retail, Restaurants-Renovations and turnovers;

-Public Works Misc. Parks and Public Works and Schools-Facilities Constructions and Improvements.

 

Laborer/Apprentice Job Summary:

The Laborer/Apprentice is a key part of the fulfillment of the promises we make to our customers. Nearly every project undertaken by Nania Construction requires some strong backs and young bodies to help with the heavy lifting and dirty work. Every successful Company and Career starts with a shovel or broom in the hands of people with great energy and big dreams. Nania Construction’s future depends on the ability of entry-level team members to supply the time, effort and commitment to growth, to help us get where we are going. We need eager people willing to learn the tricks of the trades, and endless lessons available to us every day, in order to be the Company’s Leaders of tomorrow.

A Laborer/Apprentice in our company is held accountable for the following:

  • 40 hours of work completed/produced on budget and on schedule per week.

  • Maintaining a very high level of customer satisfaction with all interactions and completed work.

  • Accurate Daily updates to all required administrative tracking and reporting systems.

  • Regular and effective communications with Crew leaders, Project managers, and other Crew members.

  • Utilizing training resources and on-the-job opportunities to continually grow skillsets and knowledge base.

 

 

 

 

Experience IS NOT Required for this position as listed below. Above all, the most important qualification to work with Nania Construction is Flexibility, a strong Work Ethic, and a Positive, Professional outlook and Attitude.

You Must have a “CAN DO” attitude and willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done. While a Laborer/Apprentice will mostly be asked to assist others and do the hard, dirty work, Everyone at Nania Construction does and is willing to do whatever is needed to complete our projects on-time, on-budget, and to the strict standards our clients expect. If you are a team player and willing to do whatever it takes, below are the other minimum requirements for the job of Laborer/Apprentice with us:

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Willingness and desire to continually learn and improve everything we do and how we do it.

  • Valid Driver’s License, clean driving record.

  • Reliable Transportation and ability to get to/from jobsites within 50 miles of St. Louis County daily

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Able to lift up to 80 lbs., repeatedly, and are physically fit

  • Able to climb and work from ladders up to 35’ off the ground

  • Mechanical aptitude and/or genuine curiosity about how various construction trades are done and a serious desire to learn.

  • Willingness and ability to slowly invest in yourself by acquiring basic hand tools as skills increase and project responsibilities increase.

  • Motivated, neat and clean and organized

  • Smartphone with ability to use multiple scheduling and project management apps, ability to take and send/receive pictures and text messages and emails.

  • Ability to act safely in an active and fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work inside or outside, in all weather conditions, all day, at any time of year, without complaint, and with a positive attitude and helpful gratitude for the work.

  • Ability to learn, to listen and follow instructions, to be curious, and want to increase knowledge and understanding of construction works.

  • Patience, to understand that mastery takes time, and permanent advancement to new roles requires mastery of existing roles as a pre-requisite.  

  • Attention to detail and an eye for quality; ability to perceive the difference between good results and bad ones.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Be on time and produce 40 hours/week. This means not just being present on jobsite for 40 hrs, but earning 40 hours pay through completion of the work that needs to be done and as quickly as a competent laborer should complete it in 40 hours of earnest effort. Steady, consistent, honest daily effort and hard work is how we reach our goals. Our daily commitment to small goals allows us all to reach the long-term and larger goals we all have. Your work determines whether we succeed or fail.

  • Demolition and Debris Cleanup and Cleanout

  • Landcaping-pulling weeds, trees and bushes trimming/removal, mulch/rock installation, Pressure-washing, Gutter Cleaning.

  • Materials loading/unloading, Packaging and unpacking.

  • Jobsite Cleanup and Preparation-Storing tools and equipment, sweeping floors, shopvac, dust collection/cleanup

  • Assist all other trades as-needed-Drywall sanding, Painting, Flooring installation, cabinets/doors/trims installations, tilesetting, Fixtures and Furnitures installations, doorknobs/hinges/stops, shelving assembly/installation.

  • General Heavy lifting when necessary.

  • Accurately log hours in the Time Tracking App daily.

  • Attend daily meetings with the Project Leader and follow their instructions to complete daily tasks and meet daily and weekly goals.

  • Come to any/all meetings prepared and ready to participate. Take notes as needed and daily work through a sequential list of tasks as set out by supervisors.

  • Follow instructions from the Project Lead and Project Manager to complete daily tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Use and store materials properly to avoid waste, shortages, and damage and eliminate avoidable delays in projects.

  • Work as a team and/or individually in an efficient manner to ensure all tasks are being completed within the allotted time frame.

  • Provide the Project Lead or Project Manager with daily updates regarding any customer interactions, when required.

  • Assist with material and/or tool pickups or drop-offs as required by sites.

  • Double-check all work with the Project Leader or Project Managers to proactively prevent deficiencies.

  • Immediately address deficiencies to prevent production delays.

  • Report any damaged or lost/stolen tools to Project Leaders and/or Project Manager.

  • Help set jobsites up for opening/closing and/or adverse weather days or absence.

  • Always maintain jobsite appearance and street presence, with a priority on public safety and cleanliness. No Smoking on properties, jobsites kept and left clean and free of trash/debris at the end of each day, tools and materials organized ready for the next day.

Schedule:

8-hour shifts Monday-Friday approx. 7-3 or 8-4 depending on project.

8 hour workday, Paid lunch break.

Major Holidays off.

Experience:

High School Diploma or GED

2 years Full-time employment anywhere, with great attendance and possibility of recommendation

OSHA 10 preferred or will provide training.
